Literature Text
There was a song –
a lithe melody to brighten and bound through shadow,
an orchestra to spread a brilliant fire beyond any semblance of dream.
What a majesty –
a rapturous sound from the echo of each echo,
an aria expounding Ilúvatar’s marvelous theme:
In Eä, among stars and nebulae,
crescendos and poignant notes interchange,
and the composition creates a splendid world.
Arda is designed in this rhapsody,
and a mountainous undertone crafts the land –
trees spring and sprout at the clarion and trumpet intertwined,
waters cascade with the violin, still with the barry saxophone,
and at the soft harp, young figures are laid into life.
At their time, Promethean children wake to a quiescent twilight;
the youth delight and discover the treasures of their home.
Together, they weave new notes for the Great Music.
Ages long past have crossed every sea toward history,
yet still it, ethereal tune, resonates distantly in our hearts;
And it was a song.

Literature
an ocean only grows
a girl may shed tears
for those parted by the sea;
accumulation.
a lady can sob
in veins of wine, sweeten and
settle his sorrow.
a woman will weep
when a home leaks, leaks of a
future ne'er to be.
Literature
History Burning
the trick is
to make all believe they inheret a
world all their own
remember to erase the words of the
deceased until
death never existed
and put corpses unburied
into neat containers
under every floor
to lock them up tight is
critical;
panic is the plague in this age
and is it any wonder they forget
with puppet parents
who burn books at christmas?

The Drowning
The water is all around me,
Dancing shadows on the ceiling,
The surface is moving slowly,
Faces and images haunt me,
I’m overwhelmed by the feelings.
The water’s crawling over me,
Scary shadows on the ceiling,
My heart keeps pounding painfully,
The tears are falling endlessly
And the pain never stops growing.
The water is now above me,
Blurry shadows on the ceiling,
It’s getting hard for me to breathe,
It’s getting hard for me to see,
As I am peacefully drowning.

This poem is for 's Tolkien contest at: fav.me/d68pyyf The prompt was to use at least 3 of 9 specific words in the deviation. I chose: Fire, Mountains, Shadow, Treasure, and Lights.
It took me a while to decide on what to write about. But I figured it sorta fit to honor what Tolkien wrote of as the origin story of Eä and Arda. Drew a lot of inspiration form the first few pages of The Silmarillion by Tolkien.
Also, disclaimer: Arda, Eru, The Silmarillion and other names, places, and other Tolkien works belong to the Tolkien estate and not myself; I do not mention or use them in this piece to produce any money or any crazy things like that.

Oooh. The Song. I really love that motif in Tolkien's and I think you captured it admirably. Best of luck in the contest!
